The Upper Rogue River near Shady Cove, Oregon has finally turned on for salmon fishing. We went from averaging 2 chances a day to hooking 11 fish in 2 days before the storm moved in. The large majority of the catch continues to be wild salmon which must be released, but we have caught a couple of hatchery keepers. Starting July 1st we can keep the wild salmon, and fishing should be great when that happens. We’ve also hooked into the first summer steelhead of the year which is a great sign of a big run ahead.
