Oregon Springer Fishing Report – Jun 27

Fishing has been great on the Upper Rogue the past two weeks for springers. Even on our slow days we are getting 3 chances while the good days have seen double digit bites. The majority of the catch continues to be wild salmon that must be released, however a good shot of hatchery fish has finally shown up. Last Wednesday 3 of the 5 fish we landed were hatchery keepers. With the hatchery fish seemingly just staring to show up, I expect fishing to be great all the way into August when we start to transition to our fall run of salmon. Back bouncing eggs cured with Pautzke’s Fire Cure continues to be our go-to method.

Starting July 1st we can begin keeping wild salmon below Dodge Bridge. This gives clients two options depending on whether they want to make sure to keep what they catch, or have slightly more chances, but have to release most of what they catch. Summer steelhead are also starting to show in decent numbers and we will start doing combo trips in July.
