Winter steelhead fishing has been off to an ok start in Southern Oregon. Numbers have been down on the South Umpqua, but we have caught fish every time. The weather has also made it difficult with the river often being too high to fish. Side drifting yarnies with a small piece of eggs cured in Pautzke’s BorX O Fire has been best.
The Rogue has also received it’s first push of winter steelhead and things should be picking up by the end of March. Peak fishing is typically the first 2 weeks of April.
